RTA Review: ECLC welcomes State Government plans for long-term leases
ECLC welcomes the Victorian Government’s announcement of a new long-term standard tenancy agreement, to be developed in 2018, as part a broader review of the Residential Tenancies Act (1997).
ECLC submitted its final recommendations to the Fairer Safer Housing review of the RTA on February 24. The recommendations are largely informed by the experiences of clients seen through the Tenancy Advice and Advocacy Program (TAAP).
The Centre expects that a standard agreement for 5-10 year leases will benefit both tenants and landlords, and urges the State Government to uphold tenants’ rights as changes continue to be made.
