National Reconciliation Week – In this together
ECLC supports National Reconciliation Week (NRW) which is encouraging a range of virtual events and online conversations.
The theme of ‘In this together,’ reminds Australians that they are in this together in a crisis or in reconciliation.
ECLC attended the virtual Yarra Ranges National Reconciliation Week Event featuring local Aboriginal leaders, as well as Stan Grant and Jack Charles.
While it wasn’t as special as being there in person, ECLC was pleased to be able to join the online conversation to show united national respect to Country.
The date for NRW is the same each year: 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey — the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively. On 27 May 2017, the Uluru Statement of the Heart was launched.
Through National Reconciliation Week, ECLC has been highlighting its proud partnerships with Boorndawan Willam Aboriginal Healing Service, Mullum Mullum Indigenous Gathering Place, Oonah Belonging Place and Worawa Aboriginal College through its social media channels: Twitter and Facebook.
