$321,500 funding for ECLC services
Eastern Community Legal Centre (ECLC) will receive $321,500 to help it continue to deliver its essential legal and other services to growing numbers of people who have been affected by the Coronavirus pandemic in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
On 9 May 2020 the State Government announced $17.5 million in additional funding to assist frontline legal assistance services in responding to COVID-19. This funding was alongside a Commonwealth Government commitment of $63 million nationally.
ECLC has received this funding in recognition of the fact that it is serving the legal needs of people in Melbourne’s east that have been affected by the social and economic impacts of COVID-19 restrictions.
ECLC CEO Michael Smith welcomes the funding which will help ECLC to continue to help the growing number of community members that have been affected by the Coronavirus crisis and the constantly changing environment.
The funding will help ECLC to support its priority groups with a range of issues including family violence, debt, and consumer matters.
