Family Violence Victim/Survivors needs prioritised in submission to Commonwealth Parliamentary Inquiry
The needs of family victim/survivors were a focus of a major submission by ECLC with the endorsement of the EMR Regional Family Violence Partnership. The submission was made to to the current Parliamentary inquiry into “a better family law system to support and protect those affected by family violence”.
The submission highlighted:
- That all personnel within all aspects of the family law system should be trained in appropriate family violence screening
- Family violence screening would not only include identifying potential family violence, but would also include appropriate responses which support family violence victim/survivors and hold perpetrators of family violence accountable
- That the Family Courts be provided with the facilities to house a range of support services who are available to support parties such as a range of family violence specialist services.
