Besen Family Foundation supporting women’s safety

June 10, 2021

The Besen Family Foundation is partnering with ECLC to fund additional legal support for women in the eastern suburbs impacted by family violence and family breakdown. The Besen family has provided a grant as part of their Foundation’s COVID Response Grant Round focusing on family violence prevention and recovery.

Tabitha Lovett, the Foundation’s Executive Officer said the Besen Family Foundation is committed to supporting work that protects the vulnerable, has the potential to change lives and make the community a safer place for everyone.

“This grant will help meet increased demand for family violence and family law support as a result of COVID-19 and the impact last year’s lockdowns have had on women and families throughout Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. Eastern CLC plays an important role in supporting the community and we are proud to partner with the Centre and help them maximise their impact.

CEO, Michael Smith, said this grant would assist women to overcome legal and social barriers that often keep them and their children in dangerous situations.

“Eastern CLC is one of the leaders in justice partnerships that bring legal and social support together with a range of health and community services. This grant means we can extend this further and open our doors to even more women in the year ahead.”
