intervention order service

For over five years, an Intervention Order Support Service has been operated at the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court by Eastern Community Legal Centre (ECLC) in partnership with Victoria Legal Aid Ringwood (VLA) and Eastern Domestic Violence Outreach Service (EDVOS) with the support and co-operation of the Court.

ECLC utilises employed staff lawyers and volunteer lawyers (from local law firms) as well as volunteer paralegals. Often VLA staff will assist the ‘other party and EDVOS provide support to women in situations of family violence as required. Court staff and other services at the Court also work with this service.

While able to respond on the Court day, it is always better to seek legal advice prior to the day.

At Court, ECLC gives priority to those seeking Family Violence related Intervention Orders. If you have a ’stalking matter’ (eg. in relation to a neighbour) ECLC is generally not able to assist you at the Court strongly recommends that you seek legal advice from ECLC before you attend Court.

Intervention Order advice is available during the day and also at night at ECLC offices and all outreach locations. For an appointment, please call either the Box Hill or Boronia.
