Eastern Community Legal Centre is committed to reform that achieves equality and social justice within the legal system for disadvantaged members of the community.

Aim

To work with the community to identify and address issues of inequality and injustice in the legal system.

Objectives

• To provide free and accessible legal services that empower clients to meet their legal needs within a community development framework.
• To identify the legal needs of disadvantaged people in the Eastern region through conducting research.
• To provide an organisational structure and policies and procedures that supports the above objectives, and that specifically includes processes for the strategic planning and evaluation of the Centre’s activities.
• To engage in collaborative partnerships and networks of agencies to assist in meeting the objectives of the Centre.
• To promote awareness of the Centre and its activities within the community.
• To encourage the involvement of the community in the Centre’s activities with a particular emphasis on a proactive membership and the contribution of volunteers
